Robyn B. Miller, Ph.D. of TheraClosure
Dr. Robyn Miller, the Founder of TheraClosure, is a licensed clinical psychologist in private practice in Bethesda, MD since 2002 and is also licensed by PsyPACT since 2021. Dr. Miller practices from a psychodynamic and relational perspective and treats teens and adults. Dr. Miller specializes in trauma, depression, anxiety, relationship problems, eating issues, menopause concerns, and life transitions.
Dr. Miller received a BA in Child Study from Tufts University, and a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Rochester. Dr. Miller completed a predoctoral internship at Harvard Medical School/ Massachusetts Mental Health Center and a postdoctoral fellowship at Harvard University Health Services. Dr. Miller has provided training, supervision, coverage, and Practice Executor consultation and services, has written on Professional Wills, and has appeared on podcasts to discuss this topic.
Jonathan Perle, Ph.D., ABPP
Jonathan Perle, PhD., ABPP is a board-certified clinical child and adolescent psychologist, associate professor, and director of telepsychology at the West Virginia University School of Medicine. In addition to his current responsibilities that include trainee education, specialty clinic management, and conducting research, Dr. Perle provides both in-person and digital psychological care. Beginning in his graduate education and spanning his ongoing career, Dr. Perle has studied, and taught about telehealth. Combined works have resulted in peer-reviewed publications, a videoconferencing-focused book, articles in national periodicals, professional presentations, expert interviews for media, consultative services including his participation in the American Psychological Association’s revision for the Professional Practice Guidelines for Telepsychology, and his design and implementation of one of the first recognized telehealth-specific doctoral-level courses for clinical psychology students. Dr. Perle has also been recognized as a psychological innovator by the American Psychological Association’s Monitor for his work designing an evidence-based and HIPAA-compliant smartphone application related to parent management training. In addition to serving as a reviewer for multiple journals, he serves as an editorial board member for the Journal of Technology in Behavioral Sciences.
Sara Smucker Barnwell, Ph.D.
Dr. Sara Smucker Barnwell is a licensed clinical psychologist who provides consultation in behavioral telehealth nationally. Her research and publication interests focus on the ethical intersection of technology and evidence-based therapies. Dr. Smucker Barnwell has spent her career focused on practice innovation. She has published extensively in behavioral telehealth, has contributed significantly to national telehealth policy, and is a nationally recognized speaker. Dr. Smucker Barnwell served on the Joint APA/ASPPB/APAIT Telepsychology Taskforce, coauthoring the APA Guidelines to Telepsychology, and is the current Chair of the workgroup to revise the guidelines. She has consulted on the American Telemedicine Association guidelines for adolescent telehealth, and has contributed to various other national committees regarding telehealth and ethical technology use in health care.
