Helping Youth Through the Holidays

This webinar presents strategies from studies focused on preventative interventions for helping youth with transitions. Strategies from an attachment parenting program are presented for helping younger children with holiday stress, and for adolescents and emerging adults, strategies from a resilience building program are offered. 

Taking a dental model approach of regular care and prevention, webinar participants will do values and planning exercises to create space for approaching holidays with intention. The focus will be on how to help the youth in their lives – whether it be their own families or work with clients – mitigate and minimize holiday stress by focusing on what is most important to them.

Learning Objectives

  • Describe how a family meeting can be used as prevention planning for curtailing stress.
  • List three strategies for maintaining routines when schedules and roles are in flux. 
  • Apply time management principles for creating realistic expectations for holiday obligations and traditions.
