Ayse Ikizler, Ph.D. is an Assistant Professor of Psychology at St. Mary’s College of Maryland, a public liberal arts college. She currently serves as president of the American Arab, Middle Eastern, and North African Psychological Association (AMENA-Psy). Dr. Ikizler completed her doctoral internship at the University of Maryland Counseling Center and earned her doctoral degree in Counseling Psychology from the University of Tennessee-Knoxville in 2016. Her research focuses on the link between oppressive experiences (e.g., ethnic discrimination) and mental health outcomes among marginalized groups, with a special interest in Arab/MENA Americans, LGBQ+ individuals, and intersectional identity development.
